By registering for and participating in the National United States Scholarship Pageant, you and your parent/guardian (if under 18) acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to follow these Rules & Regulations and the NUS State Titleholder Agreement.

Eligibility Requirements

• Residency: Contestants must live, work, or attend school in the state or region they represent unless otherwise approved by the National Executive Director.

• Marital Status: Eligibility is based on division as follows:

  • Princess, Jr. Preteen, Preteen, Jr. Teen, Teen, and Miss divisions: Contestants must be single, never married, and have never given birth.

  • Ms. division: Open to contestants who are single, widowed, or divorced, with or without children.

  • Mrs. division: Open to contestants who are married, with or without children.

  • Elegant Ms./Mrs. division: Open to all marital statuses, including single, married, widowed, or divorced contestants, with or without children.

  Once a contestant begins her reign in any division, she may not become married or give birth during her time as a state or national titleholder.

• Citizenship & Residency: Contestants must be female, a U.S. citizen, and reside in the United States.

• Character: Contestants must be of good character and have no felony convictions or history of criminal activity.

 

State & National Participation

• By accepting a state or regional title, the contestant agrees to attend and compete at the National United States Scholarship Pageant for the entire national event, including all required activities, on the dates and at the location selected by the National Office.

• Contestants are responsible for understanding and paying all pageant fees and for meeting all payment, registration, and paperwork deadlines.

• All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This includes fees paid if a contestant withdraws, does not attend, leaves the pageant early, is disqualified, or is otherwise unable to participate.

• A $60 NSF/ISF fee will be charged for any returned or declined payment. The balance must be paid within five (5) days. Failure to resolve the balance may result in the loss of a state title and/or ineligibility to compete at Nationals.

 

Conduct & Sportsmanship

• Contestants, parents, guardians, family members, and guests are expected to treat others with respect and demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

• Bullying, harassment, drama, disruptive behavior, unsportsmanlike conduct, or inappropriate behavior may result in the contestant being disqualified and/or removed from the pageant. No refund will be given.

• Contestants and their families may not make false, malicious, or defamatory statements about the National United States Scholarship Pageant, its directors, titleholders, judges, volunteers, sponsors, partners, or other individuals affiliated with the organization.

• Contestants, parents, guardians, family members, and guests may not approach or communicate with judges at any time before, during, or after the National Pageant regarding judging, scores, results, or competition.

 

Personal Conduct & Public Image

• Contestants may not participate in or be associated with photography, video, film, employment, or activities involving full or partial nudity, pornography, or adult entertainment.

• This rule applies both before and during the contestant's year of service and may affect eligibility to hold a state or national title.

 

Accuracy of Information

• All information provided on registration forms, applications, agreements, and other required paperwork must be complete and accurate.

• Providing false or misleading information may result in disqualification, loss of a state or national title, or a deduction of points, depending on the circumstances. No refund will be given.

 

Photos, Video & Media

• By participating in the National United States Scholarship Pageant, the contestant and parent/guardian (if under 18) give permission for photographs, videos, and audio recordings of the contestant to be used by National United States for promotional, advertising, social media, website, and other marketing purposes.

 

National Titleholders

• National winners must sign and follow the National Titleholder Contract before officially beginning their year of service.

• National United States reserves the right to refuse an individual the opportunity to compete or represent the organization at any time when it determines that doing so is in the best interest of the organization.

 

Awards, Prizes & Scholarships

• National United States is not responsible for prizes, gifts, or other awards that are not provided by a sponsor.

• Prizes, awards, gifts, scholarships, and other incentives are subject to change, substitution, or modification based on availability and circumstances.

 

Pageant Changes

• National United States reserves the right to change the dates, location, schedule, competition details, activities, or other aspects of the National Pageant when necessary.

• Reasonable efforts will be made to communicate any significant changes to contestants and families.

 

Agreement to Follow the Rules

Participation in the National United States Scholarship Pageant means that the contestant and parent/guardian (if under 18) agree to follow these Rules & Regulations, the NUS State Title Agreement, and any additional guidelines provided by the National Office.

Failure to follow these requirements may result in a warning, point deduction, loss of title, disqualification, removal from the event, or ineligibility to participate in future National United States events.

Rules & Regulations may be updated or modified by the National United States Scholarship Pageant when necessary. The National Office reserves the right to make changes at its discretion.
